2027 UVA Heart Failure Symposium

This symposium is designed to enhance learners’ competencies in the management of heart failure by exploring current trends, critical issues, and emerging therapies. Through the use of case studies, expert panels, and interactive Q&A sessions, participants will engage in practical, real-world learning that supports application to clinical practice. Attendees will expand their knowledge base and clinical insight to support evidence-based practice, with the ultimate goal of improving care delivery and patient outcomes across specialized and continuum care settings. This activity is intended for healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with heart failure, ranging from novice clinicians seeking foundational knowledge to seasoned clinicians aiming to refine and expand their expertise.

1. differentiate the clinical manifestations of cardiac sarcoidosis and evaluate evidence-based treatment options for its management.
2. identify patients who may be appropriate candidates for baroreflex activation therapy and describe the expected clinical benefits of treatment.
3. identify clinical applications of AI in cardiology and explain their impact on patient care and clinical decision-making.
4. define Pulmonary Hypertension according to the 2022 ESC/ERS Guidelines.
5. describe novel treatments and ongoing research in treatments for PHTN.
6. describe the clinical features and diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and evaluate the role of myosin inhibitor therapy in the management of patients with HCM.
7. describe key clinical, psychosocial, and care coordination considerations across the transplant patient journey.
