Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Design, implement and document effective behavioral interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and lifestyle modification techniques.
  2. List multifactorial pathophysiology of obesity, including genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors, as well as the role of adipose tissue in metabolic regulation.
  3. Accurately measure body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, and other clinical measures of obesity and incorporate these into the clinical setting and patient record.
  4. Identify at least 3 indications, mechanisms of action, efficacy and safety profiles of current pharmaco-therapeutic agents approved for obesity treatment.

ABIM MOC Part II

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 8.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
