The McLemore Birdsong Pediatric Conference offers three-half days of content on a variety of case-based, clinical practice-oriented lectures covering a broad range of topics relevant to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses in pediatric and family practice settings.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Evaluate current evidence-based guidelines for the management of pediatric neurologic conditions, including atypical migraines, concussions, and febrile seizures, and implement updated diagnostic and treatment strategies in primary care.
  2. Screen, assess, and manage pediatric anxiety, depression, and suicide using practical, validated approaches tailored for the primary care setting.
  3. Demonstrate effective communication techniques to address parental mistrust in science and medicine, particularly around vaccines, evidence-based, and emerging therapies.
  4. Design and implement strategies for successful care transitions to outpatient primary care for NICU graduates requiring developmental screening, as well as for adolescents and young adults with special healthcare needs transitioning from pediatric to adult care.
  5. Monitor for personal practice gaps in the recognition and management of underdiagnosed conditions such a periodic fever syndromes and pediatric dyslipidemia and hypertension, applying appropriate referral and follow-up strategies.
  6. Examine and integrate emerging artificial intelligence (AI) applications in pediatric primary care, while appraising their opportunities and limitations for clinical use.
