Overview
iCSD is a multidisciplinary annual meeting focused on the study of mechanisms and treatment of Spreading Depolarization(SD). SD is a massive near death wave of brain activity, very different from seizure that is involved in many common neurologic disorders ranging from headache to tumor to severe stroke and brain injury. The meeting is a unique mix of disciplines ranging from various preclinical researchers to translational and clinical researchers. Among clinicians, neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-intensivists, anesthesiologists, and other fields are all represented. The program will feature relatively brief keynote addresses as well as abstract presentations discussing the latest research findings related to SD. The goal is to create a collaborative, cross-disciplinary discussion, so there will be ample time for questions, discussion, and panel perspectives.

Date & Location
Friday, September 18, 2026, 2:00 PM - Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 1:00 PM ET, UVA Pinn Hall Conference Center, Charlottesville, VA

Target Audience
Specialties - Anesthesiology, Neurology , Neurosurgery
Professions - Physician

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the potential role of spreading depolarizations (SD) across a wide range of neurologic conditions.
  2. Evaluate conditions where SD directed therapies are being tested and may become standard
  3. Identify opportunities to collaborate with SD data analysis through efforts such as foundations
